3.10. - 13.10.2024 - Zürich Film Festival

Oct 3, 2024 - Oct 13, 2024

The Zurich Film Festival is a platform for the most promising new filmmakers from around the world.

In October 2005 it took place for the first time and has established itself in the international festival scene within a few years. The Zurich Film Festival aims to give a large audience an insight into the work of young, emerging filmmakers from all over the world and to promote the exchange between established filmmakers, young talents and the audience.

Prizes and competitions

In three international competitions (International Feature Film, International Documentary, Focus Switzerland, Germany, Austria) young filmmakers compete for the main prize, the Golden Eye. Outside the competitions, new films by renowned filmmakers are presented as "Gala Premieres" and "Special Screenings". In the section "New World View" the focus is on current filmmaking in a flourishing film region. In addition, directors and actors are honoured with honorary awards for extraordinary achievements.

Locations

Zurich's Sechseläutenplatz, located in the middle of the city and on the shore of Lake Zurich, is the hub of the festival. Here you will find the festival cinemas Corso and Le Paris, the festival centre and the ZFF Night Lounge. The other festival cinemas Picadilly, Arena and Filmpodium can be reached in a few minutes.

Events

Numerous supporting programmes and parties invite filmmakers and film enthusiasts to exchange views on what they have seen and to end the day at the cinema in a relaxed atmosphere.

For children

Laugh, discover, sympathise, immerse yourself in images, join in the excitement, think, understand, inspire. The "ZFF for Children" series presents outstanding children's and family films from all over the world. And at most film screenings, the audience has the opportunity to meet the filmmakers on location. Tickets for the ZFF children's series are available at the special price of CHF 9. All films are open to children aged 6 and over. The accompaniment of adults is generally recommended.

The Zurich Film Festival is easily accessible from the centrally located Hotel Alexander Zurich on foot or by public transport.
