Good size room, excellent location close to everything on foot including the train station. Nice touch to offer coffee/tea/water in the reception area.
The rooms were comfortable and clean
Early checkin was also given. This was appreciated after a long trip. Breakfast was excellent and good value. The restaurant staff were welcoming, generous, and brilliant at what they do. The location was excellent, close to restaurants and boutique shops, and very close to the river, transport, and train station. Complimentary water served in rooms. I would stay here again..

Good budget location that is a short walk from central transit station. Breakfast is a good choice if you need a variety of calories for a long travel day.
Great central hotel, pretty much in the heart of Zurich.
We happened to be there during an annual festival which covers the whole of old town which was extremely fun and made me experience a whole new side of Zurich! There's also small extras like coffees and teas available wherever you like which was a lovely addition ☺️

The hotel is very well located, the rooms are small and have no mini bar but we were warned beforehand.

Really a nice place, that I enjoyed, even if I stayed only a night here. Pleasant staff, that make you feel a friend, not a guest there. Clean room, bath, bedsheets, basic hygienic things provided. Would have never expected this much, from a 2* facility! Pleasantly surprised 💖 Quiet place, perfect for exploring the heart of Zurich! Would definitely consider coming again 🥰

A rare bargain in Zurich!
You don’t get a lot for your money in Zürich so this place is great value for money. Really well located in the middle of the Old Town, minutes from Tram, Train and Boat stations and surrounded by bars and restaurants it makes an ideal place to stay.
Rooms are quite basic, but comfortable - pillows are huge and soft, and bathroom has all essentials.
Staff were very welcoming and really helpful when I needed to stay a little time behind checkout due to a work issue!
Free coffee in reception is very good too!

The Alexander Hotel in Zurich is win!

It’s not as though I planned to stay long in Zurich, and in fact, we only needed a hotel for the first night of a longer trip. The Alexander Guesthouse and Hotel was convenient, centrally located in the old town, and just a walk from the Zurich HB (hauptbahnhoff, or central station). The location is the first point towards 5/5. Next is the service. Upon arriving, carrying at least one bag too many, I left my partner at a bench, while I went to check in. As I checked in with the front desk, they sent a man to collect her. He carried our bags (from around the corner, and down a block), and with a friendly smile, and great welcome brought our duffels and packs inside. The service was welcoming, and as they informed me that they’d given me an “upgrade” I was pleased to find our corner room on an upper floor, with a pleasant view of the small plaza below. An Alnatura grocer is situated right next to the hotel, which is also convenient. The area around the hotel is a pied a marché, where there are many shops, restaurants, and, as is the only real problem with Zurich, smokers.
But the hotel is a winner. Relatively inexpensive, well situated, and staffed with excellent people.

This is the best place you can stay in Zurich.
All the staff are friendly and helpful. Don't think, just book here. Believe me, you will enjoy it.

The rooms and bathrooms are small but practically designed, not „overfurnished“. The service is OK: regular cleaning. The staff at the reception of the hotel is helpful and friendly.
One little minus: The charming street can be noisy sometimes during night times.
Top notch if you like it easy and not expensive.
Great inner city value
Alexander Guesthoue is in a great location, one street back from the lively pedestrian and restaurant area, but very quiet. The room was clean and comfortable. There were no tea and coffee making facilities but the staff provided them upon request. The staff were lovely and really helpful. The breakfast was delicious - fruit, cereals, breads, croissant, eggs, bacon etc. in a nice breakfast room. We highly recommend this as a great value place to stay.
Great value in the heart of Zurich.
I stayed one night (Sunday into Monday) upon arrival to Zurich from Chicago. I chose this hotel because it met my simple needs (bed, central location, TV, free WiFi, and bathroom). I was not disappointed. The hotel and room were clean and quiet, the hotel staff was courteous, Alexander is centrally located, and the free breakfast was fantastic! My favorite thing about the hotel was that they put an apple in the room and there was a bowl of apples on the front desk - I don't know if this is standard year round or just because it's autumn, but I loved it!
Staying at the Hotel Alexander was ideal for exploring Zurich because it is in walking distance of nearly everything. As for the breakfast buffet, it was great. Awesome spread of local fresh foods (pastries, yogurt, cheese, meat, fresh coffee, etc), courteous service, perfect to start the day.
I would recommend the Hotel Alexander to anyone traveling through Zurich looking for a safe, centrally located, efficient hotel at a good rate.
Good city hotel
We spent a night at this hotel in Zurich. It is located very centrally in the busy Niederdorf quarter, in Walking distance to the main train station and Zurich Downtown.
We were glad they had a separate underground garage for our car, since parking space in Zurich is non-existent or terribly expensive.
The rooms are clean, though very small.
Our room did face to a small side-alley, where some loud unloading operation took place at 6 am on a Saturday.
The breakfast buffet is very nice and thorough.
All employees were very friendly.
All in all, it was good value for money.
